Why OAK often beats SFO from Livermore
From Livermore, SFO adds roughly 15 miles and a bridge crossing — either the San Mateo Bridge or the Bay Bridge — to every trip. Oakland keeps you on I-580 almost the entire way. For domestic travel, particularly Southwest out of Terminal 2, door-to-gate time from the east valley is usually shorter through OAK. When fares on both airports are similar, we will tell you honestly that Oakland is the easier morning.
